“Umm… what are the chances your daughter would be interested in bird sitting this weekend?”
How many of you have had to make a call like that? Anyone with pets knows that they require some extra thought when planning to go out of town. Sometimes that’s not quite so easy.
We planned on attending a large tractor show and stay the weekend in our camper a few days after we discovered the baby starlings. That’s not exactly ideal for baby bird care.
Do you know how often baby birds eat? Every half hour!!!

Asking someone to baby bird sit is a lot more difficult when you’re asking them to be practically tied to them for the entire weekend.
Thankfully my friend’s daughter had raised a baby starling the summer before and was familiar with how to care for them. Her Buddy has grown wonderfully and his now a permanent fixture in their family.
Fortunately, she agreed to care for Cuckoo and Sweetie Heart for the weekend! Less than a week old and our babies were off to their first sleepover. They had a wonderful time and I couldn’t believe how much they seemed to grow over the weekend. They had started to get their feathers while we were gone!
I am very blessed to have such amazing friends who are willing to help out with our crazy adventures and animals.
